The Starlet Suite – vintage makeover photoshoots
This year I decided it was time to stop procrastinating and just do things. I’ve been putting off writing a blog for far too long, with excuses such as “It’s on my list”, “I don’t have time, or “I’m getting round to it”. Which is odd for me as I’m a chatty, excitable soul that likes to talk to people about things I’ve done, seen and discovered. So in the name of getting the hell on with it, here I am!
And where better to start than with The Starlet Suite, a vintage makeover photoshoot I’ve been lucky enough, and extremely excited about, to be involved with. It began with a chance conversation with my friend and rather talented photographer, Becky from Becky Ryan Photography. We were dreaming about makeover shoots that offered something different to others on the market. Not to say that they aren’t good, they are, but we wanted a certain uniqueness and authenticity. To us that started with the location, our shared love of retro and vintage, and Becky’s love of natural light. She found THE most amazing venue and after visiting it we just knew it was the one.
Straight out of 60’s James Bond, or America’s Palm Springs it even had a pool!
The next step was to find our make up artist – Bethany Jane Davies of The Vintage Beauty Parlour fame fell in love with the idea and venue – our team was complete. August last year saw our first vintage makeover photoshoot and the beginning of The Starlet Suite.
Our aim was to provide a fun, relaxing and confidence boosting experience, complete with music, tea and biscuits, with much chatter and laughter. The venue is actually a family home, built in 1968, with the fittings all untouched so as to retain the original look and feel. Let me tell you, we all wanted to move in, and had serious retro homeware envy!
Here’s some of the ladies Bethany and I transformed for Becky to coach out that inner starlet we all have in there somewhere!
